TD Canadian Children's Book Week
TD Canadian Children's Book Week
has brought the joy of reading to kids since 1977. Every November, thousands
of children and adults participate in activities held in every province
and territory across the country.
Hundreds of schools, public libraries, bookstores and community centres host events, including public readings by local Canadian authors, illustrators and storytellers who bring to children the joy of reading. TD Canadian Children's Book Week is the single most important bilingual, national event celebrating Canadian children's books and authors.
Teaming up to boost literacy
In celebration of Book Week, every Grade One student across the nation - or nearly half a million children - is given a free beautiful Canadian storybook by TD Bank Financial Group. Authored and illustrated by Canadian creators, the book is to be taken home by each child to keep and to read with his or her family.
This pioneering annual book giveaway is organized by the Canadian Children's Book Centre in cooperation with ministries of education, school boards and library organizations and is fully funded by TD as the title sponsor. It's about making a difference together. TD has been involved with this important program since 2000. Visit www.bookweek.ca to read more!
