Friends of the Environment

Apply for funding

Eligibility Criteria
  • Organizations must be Canadian, using the funds in Canada
  • Organizations must be not-for-profit, with a Charitable Registration Number
  • Organizations must be able to provide a charitable tax-receipt for the full amount of donation

Please follow these simple steps to submit your request for community support to TD Friends of the Environment Foundation:

  1. Review TD Friends of the Environment Foundation focus areas to see if your project or program aligns with our interest areas.
  2. Review our eligibility criteria to ensure that your request fits with our granting policy.
  3. Review our Frequently Asked Questions section
  4. Complete and submit our on-line application form. It should take you 20-30 minutes to complete.
  5. If you have already submitted or saved an application, retrieve your existing application.
  6. An organization can not submit an application for the same project more then once in a 12 month time period per chapter.

Some information we will require:

  1. Information about your organization, including your organization's name, mandate and Charitable Registration Number.
  2. Contact information so that we can reach you, including an e-mail address.
  3. A detailed budget outlining how and where requested funds will be allocated.
  4. How TD Friends of the Environment funds will be used and how that support might be recognized.

What happens after you submit your on-line application:

  • Once you have submitted your on-line application, you will receive confirmation by e-mail that we have received your application. We will also provide you with the contact information for the Chapter of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation that will be reviewing your request. We strive to evaluate your request in a timely manner. We will contact you approximately three weeks following a Chapter Board meeting.
  • Your local Chapter Advisory Boards meet periodically to review requests. If you want specific details on when your application will be reviewed, please e-mail the contact person listed in your e-mail notification of receipt.

Funding Focus Areas

  • Protects and preserves the Canadian Environment
  • Assists young Canadians in understanding and participating in Environmental activities
  • Supports urban renewal such as environmental projects to rejuvenate smaller or at risk neighbourhoods and "main streets"
  • Enhances cooperation among Environmental organizations

Things that the foundation does not fund:

  • Private land endeavours
  • Salary
  • Website design
  • Production of videos, DVD’s and television shows
  • Fundraising initiatives
  • Personal or group expeditions
  • Scholarships, grants or bursaries
  • Administrative or capital costs (i.e. building campaigns, opening costs / overhead, office equipment, renovations)
  • Landscape equipment for upkeep of lawns, parks, gardens, trails, paths (e.g. leafblowers, lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, vehicles, bobcats)
  • Mileage or meal costs
  • Consultants
