Two-Step Verification

When you log in and we need to confirm it's you accessing your accounts, we use Two-Step Verification for your protection.

How Does It Work?

To confirm your identity, you may be asked for a security code after you log in. This ensures it’s really you accessing your accounts and helps protect your personal information

When might this happen?

  • When you register for Two-Step Verification
  • When you add a phone number within your security settings
  • When you log in from an unfamiliar device
  • When you reset your password

If you're asked to verify your identity, select the security verification method you'd like and generate your unique security code.

There are three methods to generate your security codes:

  • TD Authenticate app

The TD Authenticate app is a separate app to be used with logging in to EasyWeb or WebBroker, that you can use to generate security codes without the need for texts or phone calls.

  • Text Message

Get the code via text message to your mobile phone. It arrives instantly and is easy to access.

  • Phone Call

If getting a phone-call is more convenient, you can get your code by voice message on your mobile or landline phone.

You can manage the devices or phone numbers you use to generate your security codes within the security settings section on EasyWeb and WebBroker.

Setup Takes Just a Few Minutes:

Two-Step Verification Setup

When you first log in to EasyWeb or WebBroker you'll be prompted to set up Two-Step Verification. During this, you'll be asked to:

  1. Add a phone number or multiple phone numbers.
  2. Add an email address for security alerts.
  3. Select a Security Code Log In Option, which allows you to decide when a security code is needed.

If you have already set up Two-Step Verification, you can update your phone numbers and your Security Code Log In Options easily, go to security settings within EasyWeb or WebBroker.

Frequently asked questions

No, you don't need a mobile phone to receive one-time security codes. You can also use a landline and receive your code by voice message. You can add up to 5 phone numbers (including international phone numbers) to receive your unique security codes, so you can access your accounts no matter where you are.

The TD Authenticate app also provides an alternative extra layer of security to protect your accounts when logging into EasyWeb or WebBroker. You can use it to generate a security verification code without the need for texts or phone calls. The phone number(s) on your security profile should be managed and kept up-to-date in the event you need to receive a one-time security code through a text or phone call.

Important: To update or add additional phone numbers in your security settings, you're required to have access to one of the phone numbers you've previously verified to receive a one-time security code.

You can view and update your phone numbers, email for security alerts, and login options in security settings within EasyWeb, WebBroker, and the TD app.

You must always have at least one phone number available, mobile or landline, to receive one-time security codes, and you can add a total of five phone numbers.

We recommend you add more than one phone number for several reasons:

  • If you travel with a different SIM card or phone number
  • If you travel and have access to a landline or mobile phone number that you trust at your destination, we recommend adding that phone number to your security settings, before you leave
  • To make sure you can access your accounts, no matter where you are
  • When your primary phone is not nearby
  • If your primary phone is lost or not working

To view, update and add phone numbers to receive one-time security codes, go to security settings.

We only require you to use Two-Step Verification when we need to verify your identity, for example, when you login from a device we don't recognize. A recognized device is any device that you regularly use to access your TD accounts.

How often we require you to use Two-Step Verification depends on your Login option in security settings.

We need your email address so that we can send you security alerts. Security alerts are emails that we send to you whenever changes are made to your secure information, including:

  • After you complete your initial security setup
  • Any time you change your username or password
  • If you need to retrieve your username
  • When you make changes to your security phone, email or login option
  • Should you ever be locked out of a TD website or app

You can view and update the email address for your security alerts in your online banking security settings. We will never use it to send you marketing messages and you won't receive one-time security codes to your email address.
