Among the most pressing concerns for health-care professionals in Canada are lack of funding for professional development and ensuring the best medical talent stays in the country.

To address these issues, TD has been investing in medical practitioners at hospitals and health-care facilities across Canada since 2000 - through the TD Grants in Medical Excellence program. Our investments are focused on human development, rather than bricks-and-mortar campaigns.

Making a difference together
To develop this program, TD proactively consulted with health care professionals, hospital administrators, and hospital foundations to determine where our donations could make the most impact. The result: TD funding is allocated in one of two ways:

• To community hospitals - for courses, conferences and certificate programs that allow nurses and other practising caregivers to maintain or upgrade their skills.
• To university research hospitals - for postdoctoral fellowships to give doctors at the top of their fields access to research funds.
