Every day, many people in our communities and neighbourhoods require assistance - including the homeless, abused women, newcomers, seniors and individuals in crisis. TD and its employees reach out to people in need by giving to community agencies that aim to improve social conditions and provide vital services and hope to those less fortunate.
Take the United Way, for example, which is a network of health and social service agencies across Canada. Each year we actively participate in United Way fundraising and awareness campaigns. From coast to coast, thousands of TD employees show their commitment with payroll deductions and involvement in a range of creative fundraising activities. It can get quite competitive as departments across our organization try to outdo each other in their efforts to raise money!
The Youth Challenge Fund (YCF) in Toronto is another example. TD contributed $250,000 to this initiative that aims to improve opportunities for young people, particularly in poorly served neighbourhoods in the city's suburban areas. YCF investments will focus on youth education, employment, leadership and engagement initiatives, and funding will be targeted to youth 11-24 who have faced significant barriers and inequality, particularly African Canadian Youth.
