Private Markets Team

Colin is the Managing Director and Head of Private Markets, providing strategic guidance and oversight to all real estate, mortgage, private debt and infrastructure investment management activities, including acquisitions, divestitures, product development and portfolio management. He was previously responsible for the Canadian and International Real Estate strategies, including fund design and structuring, as well as the implementation and oversight of acquired assets. Colin serves as Chair of the Private Markets Investment Committee. Colin holds a B.A. and a B.Comm., both with Distinction from Queen’s University, an MBA with Distinction from Harvard University and an ARCT with Honours from the Royal Conservatory of Music. In 2020, Colin was named one of Canada's Top 40 under 40. He is the Chair of the Toronto Investment Board, and the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Colin is an Emeritus Trustee of Queen’s University.

Jeff leads the infrastructure team and is Head of Global Infrastructure Investments. He is responsible for investment strategy, asset sourcing and execution, and ongoing oversight of acquired assets. He was previously part of the Infrastructure Investments teams at Public Sector Pension Investment Board and IFM Investors, with multi-sector responsibilities. These included global deal sourcing and execution, asset management, board representation and developing investment strategies for equity investing and project financing within the Infrastructure and Energy sectors. Prior to these responsibilities, he worked in a variety of senior investment management positions and civil construction roles. Jeff is registered as a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario and holds a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering from Memorial University and an MBA in Finance from McGill University.

Andrew is Managing Director and Head of Global Real Estate Investments where he is responsible for the Canadian and International Real Estate strategies. He has oversight over Portfolio and Asset Management, Transactions, Developments and Research. As a member of the Senior Management Team of Alternative Investments, a voting member of the Alternative Investments Committee, and in his prior role leading the Alternatives Client Portfolio Management Team, he has experience with portfolio management, product development and implementation, transactions and risk management activities of our real estate, infrastructure and commercial mortgage portfolios. Prior to joining the firm, Andrew spent several years at an investment consulting firm. Andrew holds a B. Comm. with Honours from McMaster University.

Matt leads the Global Portfolio and Asset Management teams. He is responsible for domestic and international real estate portfolio and asset management. He previously worked as a Commodity Accountant with a major Canadian agricultural company. Matt holds a B.B.A in Accounting from the University of Regina.

Luke leads the Global Transactions team, with responsibility for acquisitions and dispositions in Canada and internationally. Since joining the firm in 2006, he gained extensive experience working on numerous aspects of the real estate portfolio at the firm. Luke holds a B. Comm. and an M.Sc. in Finance, both from the University of Saskatchewan.

Mark leads development activities on a global basis across the portfolio and is also heavily involved in the underwriting and execution of new acquisitions and dispositions. He was previously Senior Director, Investments at a real estate investment manager, a Director of Finance at a major Canadian real estate developer and a Consultant, New Business Development at a large Canadian retailer. Mark holds a B.A.A. in Applied Geography and Economics from Toronto Metropolitan University and an MBA in Finance from McMaster University.

Scott leads the real estate research team for the international and Canadian real estate strategies. He previously led the International Real Estate Portfolio Management team, where he had oversight of assets acquired in the global (international) real estate portfolio and for the investment performance of those assets. He served as a Senior Canadian Equity Analyst, Portfolio Manager and Vice President with various roles, including Canadian Equities, U.S. Equities, Investment Risk and ESG. He gained risk management and fixed income experience in the Treasury divisions of Farm Credit Corporation (FCC) and a major Canadian utility. Scott holds a B. Admin. with Distinction from the University of Regina. He is a past President and board member of the CFA Society of Saskatchewan.

Sandy is responsible for accounting, audits, tax and corporate filings for the Real Estate Asset Management team. She gained extensive real estate experience as Chief Accounting Officer and CFO for a senior housing company, CFO for a TSX listed Mid-Market REIT, Vice President and Controller for a TSX listed senior living REIT, Vice President Property Accounting at a TSX listed open-ended REIT, and Vice President of Corporate Accounting and Director of Accounting at a TSX listed multinational real estate investment, development and property management corporation. Sandy holds a B. Comm. from Queen’s University and a C. Dir.

Tom is Head of Mortgage Investments and part of the Senior Management team that oversees the alternative investments platform. He is responsible for portfolio management of the Mortgage strategy as well as GMI Servicing Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary that provides mortgage administration services for the strategy. He gained experience as an Analyst and Assistant Manager at a major Canadian life insurance company and a mortgage originator. Tom holds a B. Comm. with Honours from I.H. Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba.

Karolyn oversees the GMI Servicing team managing the administration of loans for the Mortgage strategy. She is responsible for cash management, administration of client capital calls and redemptions, managing the client queue, portfolio diversification, and the PMM Project Team. She gained experience as an Administrator at a private equity firm supporting the CEO, Accountant and consultants. Karolyn holds an A.A. Diploma with Honours from Red River College.

Bruce is Head of Private Debt Research & Origination and leads a team responsible for the firm's global research and origination of private debt, focusing on direct lending, structured and project finance debt transactions in selected corporate, infrastructure, energy and real estate sectors. Bruce joined the firm in 2015, successfully launching the institutional Private Debt strategy and growing Private Debt AUM to over $5 billion. He was previously President and CEO of the Canadian division of a global financing corporation where he created the Canadian financing platform and grew the private infrastructure and energy debt portfolio to over $1 billion. He holds a B.A. in Asian Studies and Economics from the University of Victoria and an MBA in Finance from DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University. Bruce sits as a member of the firm's Wealth Asset Allocation Committee and Credit Committee.

Louis is Lead Portfolio Manager Private Debt, responsible for managing private debt portfolios and raising capital from institutional clients. He was previously Managing Director for a Canadian financial services company, where he established the firm’s asset management division in 2011 with the creation of the first two Canadian private infrastructure debt funds. Louis holds a B.Ec. with Honours from Bishop’s University and an M.Sc. from Université de Sherbrooke.

Shane is Head of Global Fund Operations, Private Markets. He oversees the teams responsible for portfolio modelling and analytics, finance and valuations across the Private Markets asset classes. Shane is a member of the Private Markets Investment Committee. He gained experience in progressively senior roles within the Private Markets Team. Shane holds a B.B.A., majoring in Finance with Great Distinction from the University of Regina.

Masonga is responsible for the valuation and financial reporting of the international alternative investment funds, including the corporate management, financial statements and audits of the Alternative strategies and underlying investment vehicles. Prior to joining the firm, he gained experience as a Financial Reporting Manager at an information and communications technology provider and as an Accounting Advisory Manager at a global provider of audit and assurance, consulting, financial advisory, risk advisory, tax and related services. Masonga holds a B.B.A. with Distinction from the University of Regina and an M.P.Acc. from the University of Saskatchewan.

David is responsible for the valuation and financial reporting of the domestic alternative investment funds, including the corporate management, financial statements and audits of the Alternative strategies and underlying investment vehicles. He has previous experience as a Financial Controller, Account Controller and Senior Auditor. David holds a B.B.A. from the University of Regina

As a Vice President & Director on the Alternative Investments Global Fund Operations team, Joëlle is primarily responsible for portfolio modelling, cash flow forecasting, and data analytics on the Canadian and Global Real Estate strategies, as well as for the Infrastructure strategy. Since starting her career as an Analyst with Greystone Managed Investments, a firm acquired by the company in 2018, Joëlle has gained experience in progressively senior roles with the Alternatives Portfolio & Fund Management team. Joëlle holds a B.B.A., majoring in Finance with Great Distinction, and a Certificate in Economics, both from the University of Regina.

Priti leads the firm's sustainable investment function and is responsible for the firm's stewardship program, advancing ESG integration expertise within the investment team, and thought leadership on investment relevant environmental, social and governance topics. She has over 15 years of work experience with a U.S.-based global financial company providing sustainable investment solutions. Her previous work engagements include a research internship with the United Nations agency in Geneva, Switzerland, emerging market experience with the Indian Chambers of Commerce, and research consulting in the UK. Priti holds a B.Comm. with Honours from the University of Delhi, an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Warwick and a Ph.D. in Accounting and Finance with a focus on ESG Integration from Kingston Business School. She sits on the Global Policy Committee at the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN), the Public Policy Committee at the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance (CCGG), the Responsible Investment Association's (RIA) Leadership Council and Climate Engagement Canada's Industry Leadership Advisory.

As a Vice President on the Sustainable Investment team, Taryn leads ESG and sustainability integration for the Alternative Investment portfolios. Taryn has an extensive background as a sustainability consultant in the real estate and infrastructure sectors in Canada and globally. Before joining the firm, she served as the Senior Technical Director for Climate Advisory at a major Canadian environmental consulting firm, leading decarbonization and climate resiliency services. Taryn has a proven track record in managing and executing projects related to climate strategy, climate risk and resilience and sustainability frameworks. She holds a B. Sc. in Environmental Science and Community Design from Dalhousie University and an M. Env. Sc. in Climate Change Impacts and Adaptations from the University of Toronto. She is a LEED Accredited Professional and holds a Certificate in ESG Investing from the CFA Institute.

Jafer is Head of Client Portfolio Management at the firm, covering equity, fixed income, alternative and multi-asset strategies. He leads a team of investment professionals who communicate and deliver investment solutions to clients through collaboration with portfolio managers, relationship managers and distribution teams. Jafer was previously the Head of Institutional Asset Allocation at the firm where he was accountable for designing strategic asset mix, fund selection and portfolio management of active balanced funds and custom fund of fund solutions. He has previous experience working in fixed income and investment solutions development as a Vice-President with a global investment management firm along with experience within investment consulting. Jafer holds a B.B.A. with Honours from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Monish is a voting member of the Private Markets Investment Committee, which oversees investment activity in real estate, infrastructure, private credit, and mortgage portfolios. Monish also leads the Client Portfolio Management Team responsible for working closely with clients and the investment/consulting community providing insight into the firm's private market strategies. He was previously a Senior Research Analyst with a major Canadian bank. Monish developed his career as a Research Analyst with a private equity firm, as an Investment Analyst with the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, and as an Investment Analyst with a large consulting company. Monish holds a B. Comm. with First Class Honours from Queen’s University.
