      The TD Grade 1 Book Giveaway is the largest distribution of free books in Canada. Over 500,000 Grade 1 students received a book in English or French.

      “TD Tree Days” is a new employee volunteer program launched last year by the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF).

      The mission: to give TD employees the opportunity to get actively involved in their local communities, while highlighting the importance of healthy forests and their stewardship.

      Nearly 20,000 trees in 50 communities across Canada were planted over the course of two weekends in September 2010.

      Working with expert partners, TD FEF ensured that volunteers planted trees native to each region.

      From Conception Bay South, Newfoundland to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, thousands of enthusiastic TD volunteers of all ages pitched in to green the Canadian landscape with new trees.

      When Hurricane Igor battered parts of Newfoundland in September 2010, hundreds of trees were damaged.

      Fortunately, TD Tree Days was scheduled the weekend after the calamity: TD volunteers planted 770 new native trees in the St. John’s area.

      The launch of TD Tree Days in 2010 coincided with the 20th anniversary of the TD Friends of the Environment Foundation.

      Since it was established in 1990, TD FEF has given over $53 million to more than 19,000 projects across Canada.
