Hi, I'm Marci, and I work at TD, and I'm here today to share with you some budget tips that I use for our family in our household.
for my first tip, I am a coupon clipper.
I was taught this at a very young age, when my grandmother used to pay me for the coupons she would use at the grocery store.
Now, that was in the day when we had double and triple coupons.
Doesn't quite exist anymore today.
But when I was growing up, my grandmother would give me the value of any of those coupons she used at the grocery store, and she always made out because it was doubled or tripled.
But I do this now within 2021.
There's plenty of ways to get coupons.
You've got the grocery store coupons that come off the register.
You've got the Sunday paper circular coupons that you can still click by paper.
You have also even manufacturing coupons that come in the box, or the digital coupon that you can use your grocery store app and some commercial applications that give you money right back at the register.
My second tip is all about meal planning.
We know we are so busy, and it is so hard to run to the grocery store every time we need to go somewhere.
So, why don't you start with a meal plan.
Every Saturday morning I faithfully sit down at my counter with my cup of coffee, and I build out my grocery list.
I have three grocery stores in the five mile radius where I live, and I pull out all those circulars, I look at what's actually on sale and build my meals for the week based on what's on sale.
That way, when I go to the grocery store on Sundays, I know exactly what I'm getting, I get enough stuff that I need for the rest of the week, and all my meals are planned and ready to go so that we as a family can get out and do what we need to do for the week.
My next tip is about cutting down the number of cleaning products you have in your house.
Come on, folks. Do you really need a specialized product for every single room in your house to clean? No. You can cut down, save money at the register if you shorten your list and declutter some of those cabinets and shelves in your house.
You could probably do this with a simple four items.
Glass cleaner, baking soda, vinegar, dish soap.
What else more do you need to kill the germs in the house and clean the dust?
My last tip: grow a garden.
Doesn't have to be big.
It can be a planter on the patio.
It can be a small raised bed.
It could be a half-an-acre field.
Grow the vegetables and herbs that your family is going to eat and enjoy.
