How to set a Personal Identification Number (PIN)?

Description

Before an Authentication Device can be used, its personal Identification Number (PIN) must be set. The PIN for that Authentication Device cannot be changed once it has been permanently set.

Ensure that you choose a PIN between 4 and 8 digits in length that can be easily remembered by you but not easily guessed by others. Like all PINs, you must not share this number with anyone. The security of your device depends on you being the only person who knows its PIN. During use, your device allows you 10 attempts to enter the correct PIN. On the 11th attempt, the device locks itself and will not work.

You only have one opportunity to set the PIN for your device. Be sure to follow the steps exactly.

Process

  1. Press the ON button. Your device displays the number 0 (zero).

  2. Press the M+ button (Memory Add). Your device displays: SET PIN 1

  3. Enter your PIN number. Your device displays each number so you can be sure you entered it correctly.

If you make a mistake while keying in your PIN, press the CE button (Clear Entry). Your device display will be cleared, and you can now re-enter your PIN.

  4. Press = button (Equals).

  5. Your PIN is now permanently set in the device.

Note: If you lose or forget your PIN, you must be assigned a new Connect ID with a different Authentication Device attached to it.
