Our ongoing commitment to providing innovative platforms for Canadian self-directed investors began with the launch of TD Green Line Investor Services in 1984. Over time, we became TD Waterhouse and now, TD Direct Investing. What hasn't changed is our focus on our clients. Here are some highlights of our 30+ years in Canada.

We embrace dial-up technology and launch the first computer trading service in Canada. We also roll out touch-tone phone trading and phone access to international markets.

Our client-focused approach takes the forefront, with the opening of Investor Centres and live seminars across Canada.

We introduce WebBroker, Canada's first online brokerage platform.

We become the first in Canada to introduce flat-fee commissions for online trading.
1998
TalkBroker, the first speech recognition phone service in Canada, is introduced to clients.

Green Line Investor Services is renamed TD Waterhouse Discount Brokerage.

We launch Active Trader, a platform featuring sophisticated tools like streaming Level 2 quotes, as well as streaming charts and watchlists.

TD Waterhouse is the first brokerage to use biometrics technology with the launch of Voice Print telephone voice identification system.

We launch the thinkorswim platform for our active stock and options traders. We also celebrate our 25th anniversary.

The TD app is launched. The app offers mobile trading for our clients.

We launch Advanced Dashboard, our flagship streaming platform for active traders.

We overhaul and relaunch WebBroker. The Globe and Mail recognizes it as the "highest rated online brokerage among the banks"1.

We are the first Canadian bank brokerage to introduce multi-leg option orders.
2017
We are the first to offer multi-leg orders on mobile.
2018
We roll out Projected Income, the first of several planning tools designed to help clients understand and manage their portfolios.
2019
We launch the Learning Centre, goal planning, and Asset Allocation in WebBroker to help support our clients on their investing journey.

We launch the Analyst Centre in WebBroker to provide more detailed information about analyst ratings and analyst rankings to our clients.
2021
We introduce the Direct Investing Index, a first-of-its-kind resource that provides insight into the self-directed investment landscape and the sentiment of investors about the markets.
2022
We rebranded TD Goal Assist and launched TD Easy TradeTM – our low-cost, easy-to-use mobile app designed for new investors.
