How to deposit a cheque on the TD app


Step 1

Open the TD app and select Deposit from the top menu.

If you haven't logged in to the TD app yet, you'll be prompted to log in now.

If you're not registered for TD Mobile Deposit yet, continue on to Step2.

If you're already registered for TD Mobile Deposit, skip ahead to Step5.

Step 2

On the bottom of the screen, select the Register button.

Step 3

Scroll to read the Terms and Conditions for TD Mobile Deposit.

If you accept the Terms and Conditions, select the Accept button.

If you don't accept the Terms and Conditions, select the Disagree button.

Step 4

After accepting the Terms and Conditions, you'll see a confirmation message that says you can now use the TD app to deposit cheques. Under the confirmation message, select the Deposit Cheque button.

With TD Mobile Deposit, you can only deposit cheques drawn on a Canadian financial institution.

  • If the cheque is payable in Canadian dollars, you have to deposit it into a Canadian dollar account
  • If the cheque is payable in U.S. dollars, you have to deposit it into a U.S. dollar account

Step 5

In the Account dropdown list, select the account you want to deposit the cheque into.

Step 6

In the Amount field, enter the amount of money your cheque is for.

Step 7

In the Capture Cheque section, select the Front button to take a picture of the front of your cheque.

Review the Tips for best results screen and select OK.

Step 8

Position your cheque inside the white border on the screen and the app will automatically take a photo for you once the cheque is clear and positioned correctly. If auto-capture fails you will have the option to select the white shutter button to manually take the picture.

Step 9

Now take a picture of the back of your cheque be selecting the Back button.

On the back of your cheque, make sure you:

  • Sign it
  • Write For deposit only
  • Write your account number

Step 10

Position your cheque inside the white border on the screen and the app will automatically take a photo for you once the cheque is clear and positioned correctly. If auto-capture fails, you will have the option to select the white shutter button to manually take the picture.

Step 11

Before you finish the deposit, make sure the cheque images and information you've entered is correct.

If you need to change anything, select the < (back) button.

If everything looks good, select the Finish Deposit button.

After you deposit the cheque, you'll be given a confirmation number for your records. From here, you can also:

  • Go to the TD app home screen
  • Deposit another cheque
  • View your accounts
