Simon Fish
Senior Executive Vice President and General Counsel

Simon Fish serves as Senior Executive Vice President and General Counsel for TD Bank Group.
He is widely regarded as one of Canada’s most respected corporate lawyers, known for his extensive global experience and deep understanding of capital markets, banking, and financial regulation and enforcement.
Simon joined TD in 2025. Before that, he served as General Counsel at BMO for 13 years. During his time there, he guided the bank through the regulatory challenges following the global financial crisis and played a key role in its expansion across North American, Europe and Asia. Additionally, he chaired the BMO Climate Institute, where he advised on the bank's climate change strategies and helped improve climate adaptation practices for its clients.
Before BMO, Simon was General Counsel at Vale Base Metals and held senior roles at Shell plc across various countries. He began his career practicing M&A and securities law at Dechert LLP.
Simon is a graduate of Harvard Business School, the Washington College of Law at American University and the University of Cape Town.
His commitment to legal and business excellence, along with his advocacy for high principles and values, has earned him wide recognition. His accolades include Canada’s General Counsel of the Year, recognition among Canada’s Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers, and being a Catalyst Canada Honours Champion.
