Online Purchase Security with In-app Authentication
In-app Authentication is a secure way to verify your identity while shopping online using your TD Credit Card or TD Access Card. As a TD app user, this feature allows you to review and verify your online purchases instantly and conveniently. It’s a simple way to protect yourself against the potential of fraudulent online activity.
How does In-app Authentication work?
When you’re online shopping, after adding your TD Access Card or TD Credit Card details, a security pop-up may appear asking you to verify your purchase in the TD app. Note that not every purchase you make will require this step. Below you’ll find the steps to follow to verify your purchase.
Step 1: Log in to the TD app on your mobile device.
Step 2: The "Verification Requests" screen will be displayed.
Logged in already? Select "More" from the navigation bar and then "Verification Requests" to view the purchase details.
Step 3: Review the purchase details. If correct, select “Approve” to proceed.
If the purchase looks suspicious or if you do not recognize it, select “Decline” and the purchase will not be authorized.
Step 4: Return to your shopping cart after approving the purchase in the TD app to complete the order.
Benefits of In-app Authentication
Frequently asked questions
Visa* Secure is a program developed by Visa that helps verify your identity when you make online purchases, to help protect you from unauthorized use of your cards. Participating merchants will feature a Visa* Secure badge on their website for you to recognize.
If you don’t use the TD app, you’re able to verify your online purchases using the Visa* Secure One-Time-Passcode (OTP) SMS verification. A message will be sent to your mobile device when further authentication is required to authorize an online purchase. For active TD app users, the verification process will happen in the TD app. While the Visa* Secure OTP SMS provides a layer of protection, In-app Authentication provides enhanced protection on your TD Visa* Credit and TD Access Card Accounts. You’re encouraged to download the TD app for the best protection when shopping online.

This can happen for a couple of reasons:
- The Verification Request may have expired. In that case, you will need to return to the merchant’s site and restart the purchase process.
- Or, you're already logged in to the TD app, select 'More' from the main menu, then select 'Verification Requests'. You'll see your purchase details there, ready for you to verify.
If you don’t recognize the purchase details in the TD app, select 'Decline'. The purchase request session will end and your TD Visa Credit or TD Access Card will not be charged.
Once you’ve done that, please call us immediately at:

No. Verifying your purchases through In-app Authentication has no impact on your credit score.
If multiple purchase attempts were made using the same TD Visa Credit or TD Access Card, a separate Verification Request will be generated for each purchase.
